What to Expect on a Zip Line Tour

Every zip line tour differs in many elements, but most zip line tours follow the same basic pattern. If you are a little apprehensive about participating in a zip line tour, there is no need to be. Most zip line tours are geared towards beginners and first-timers, so they are prepared to make you comfortable and get you ready to zip.
Most tours begin with an orientation. During this time, you will learn about the equipment, learn how to put it on correctly, and learn how to use it. You will also be able to talk to your guides at this time and ask any questions about the course or tour that you have. At some tours, this is when you will learn how to zip line. Your guides will tell you how the lines are set up and teach you basic skills.
Some courses are equipped with training lines. The training lines are set up just a few feet from the ground and allow you to get acclimated to the process. You will be able to get a feel of what it is like and practice hand-braking or pulling yourself along and any other techniques the guides feel are useful to the course.
Your guides are your best friends on the tour and your go-to source when you have questions about the course. They are also there to make sure everything runs safely and smoothly. Typically, two to three guides accompany every zip line tour group. At each zip line, one guide will usually zip across first while the other remains at the platform. The one across the line at the other platform is there to guide riders onto the platform and release them from the pulley.
Each zip line tour may differ in its exact procedure, but this is the basic outline of most zip line tours. However, the main goal of any zip line tour is that the riders have a great time, so every measure is taken to ensure that.
