Summer Zip Lining at Ski Resorts

Published: 14/08/2009 by Zipline Directory

Although ski resorts across America are packed during the winter months, these resorts are still great destinations for summer fun. Due to the already sloped landscape, ski mountains are ready-built for excellent zip lines that offer extreme length, height, and speed. Most of these ski resorts just offer one long zip line, which is the perfect option for visitors who do not want to spend a whole day on an extensive zip line tour.

Located in Lake Tahoe, California, Heavenly offers a 3,100-foot zip line. The zip line is accessible from a gondola ride and the Tamarack Express, which leads you to the beginning of the zip line. The zip line takes you back to the gondola, which is over a descent of over 500 feet. This zip line is open both in the summer and winter.

Utah has several options for summer zip lining. Both Snowbird Ski Resort and Utah Olympic Park feature extreme zip lines. Snowbird offers the dual-line ZipRider that is a 1,000-foot-long zip line that allows riders to reach speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. Utah Olympic Park has two zip line options: the XTreme and the Ultra. The XTreme is one of the steepest zip lines in the world, with an average gradation of 34%. The Ultra zip line is better suited for younger riders. Both of the zip lines at Utah Olympic Park operate in the winter.

On the East Coast, Sno Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania offers a half-mile long ZipRider attraction. The zip line features four separate lines, and riders can reach speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. The vertical drop on this line is over 400 feet. This zip line is available in both summer and winter.
